Atlanta Area welcomes new members to join. AABOA is dedicated to officiating high school basketball and to providing quality officials. ALL are welcome...male OR female. No experience is necessary. We will train you to become an official. Keep in mind that we DO NOT book any recreation league basketball.

Becoming a high school basketball official is not difficult, but it does require some patience as you learn the rules and mechanics thoroughly. Our meeting and training sessions begin the first Monday in October and runs through November We accept registration from new members in October of each year. you can find the meeting schedule posted to this site by early September of each year.

The area that we (AABOA) currently serves runs from Cobb/Cherokee counties westward, with a few schools located inside I-285. Click on the "School List" link to see our currently assigned schools. Please refer to the Georgia High School Association at www.ghsa.net for contact information for additional Georgia officials groups if needed. You can only be a member of one GHSA sanctioned group.

Annual dues are $65.00, which covers your GHSA fees and rule books. If you are interested in becoming or maintaining an IAABO membership, please let us know. AABOA is IAABO Board #300.

GHSA Qualifications to Officiate High School Basketball

• Be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate or holder of a G.E.D.
• File proper application and be accepted by a local, GHSA-sanctioned association.
• Attend the GHSA rules clinics each year.
• Make a score of at least 75 on the Part I, Part II, and Mechanics Examinations each year (assuming these requirements are relevant to the sport in question)
• Officiate the minimum number of contests required in the sport of registration.
